New Donor Levels Effective 1 April 2006
March 27, 2006
After two and a half years of study and review and upon my recommendation, the Board of Directors voted on 18 February 2006 to simplify donations to the Network by eliminating membership dues effective 31 March 2006. For many of you who have communicated your frustration with the dues system, this will come as welcome news. I would like to take this opportunity to explain the reasons for eliminating membership dues.
The first reason is to make your generosity to the Network more "user friendly". In the past, many donors found the membership dues to be confusing. They might make a sizable contribution in June and have a membership renewal date in July. The new system of donor levels has the advantages of recognizing your total annual contribution without having two separate types of donations.

The second advantage of the new system is that all your giving to the Network will be tax deductible, which was not the case with the membership dues. Thus, all your contributions made after 31 March 2006 will be tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
For those who are current with your membership dues, you will receive the same benefits that you enjoy currently until your anniversary renewal date. At your renewal date you will receive benefits based on your level of giving in the current fiscal year (1 April - 31 March). If you give $50 for conference financial aid and $50 for the Annual Appeal, you would receive the recognition of being a donor on the Patron level (see the card below for more details on donor levels and benefits).
The elimination of membership dues in no way diminishes the essential role you play in the Network. The Network survives only through your generosity and commitment. I ask you to consider how much you can afford to donate to the National Catholic AIDS Network annually and then decide what the best way for you to donate (quarterly, monthly, annually).
The goal for the 2006 Annual Appeal (04/01/06-03/31/07) is $90,000. This goal may appear to be quite ambitious, but I assure you that it is necessary to fulfill the mission of the Network and, with your good will and generosity, it should be realistic.
