UPDATE: With the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to reassure you that the health and safety of everyone in the NCAN community remains a top priority. Out of an abundance of caution, we are leveraging technology to offer Spring Institute as a virtual professional development experience. "Leveraging Technology for Postsecondary Success" has been redesigned and all components of the event will occur virtually. Our goal is to demonstrate caution and ensure that we are contributing to safe learning environments.

Join us on Wednesday, March 18 from 12:00-2:30 PM EDT for the keynote address and the panel of practitioners. A date and time for the interactive data working session by Vela Institute will be made available soon. As we finalize details, we will update this webpage.

Participants will learn about effective strategies and tools for scaling student programs and improving postsecondary outcomes. Topics of discussion will include:

  • The organizational journey toward scaling programs.
  • The efficacy of a variety of tech tools and products.
  • Efforts to reduce summer melt and engage new college students.
  • Leveraging National Student Clearinghouse data and Tableau to illuminate postsecondary enrollment data.

Spring Institutes are ideal for professionals working in the college access and completion space in the nonprofit sector, high school and district settings, higher ed, or any other line of direct service that provides students with opportunities and pathways toward a postsecondary plan.

Working Session: Leveraging National Student Clearinghouse Data & Tableau

Data and evaluation specialists from the Vela Institute will lead an interactive session focused on understanding how student data from the National Student Clearinghouse(NSC) can inform program decision-making, support student advising and how one school district is using Tableau to create data visualization dashboards to visualize NSC data and increase stakeholder buy-in. They will also discuss how to leverage the data and dashboards to lead collaborative and engaging conversations with various stakeholders to increase college going culture.
