Fifty percent of college students suffer from food or housing insecurity, and 3 million students drop out each year due to a time-sensitive financial crisis of less than $500. Moreover, those feeling these financial strains the most are students of color, first-generation students, students from low-income backgrounds, adult learners, foster youth, returning citizens, and LGBTQIA+ students.

A number of colleges are building a culture of caring to ensure today’s students are supported, rolling out basic needs programs like emergency aid. In this webinar, Edquity – an organization that provides a suite of technology platforms to support students through every financial decision to college graduation – will share examples of successful college practices around creating a culture of caring. Presenters will also discuss how institutions should be building their basic needs programs to optimize them for equitable outcomes and student success.
