ACT Update: Fall Testing Plans, Test-Optional  Admissions, & Equity in the Time of COVID-19

Join this webinar, hosted by ACT, to learn more about current and upcoming changes to ACT testing, including:

  • The addition of superscores. Beginning in fall 2020, ACT will begin offering students the option to report a “superscore” if they have taken the ACT test more than once. A superscore combines a student’s highest test scores by subject into one composite score, allowing students to showcase their highest achievements on college and scholarship applications.
  • Fee waivers. ACT will offer four fee waivers to qualifying students to take the ACT test for free.
  • A delay in online testing. To meet the demand of student test-takers in the time of COVID-19, ACT has paused efforts for online testing and section retesting. The organization is instead focusing on adding a number of test dates this fall to serve students in need of scores from the full ACT test, while reducing complexity in testing for our customers, test center network, and education advocates and stakeholders. At this time, ACT plans to launch online testing in 2021 but will continue to monitor the impacts of COVID-19 on test center capacity to prioritize safe and equitable access to testing. The panelists also invite conversation regarding test-optional admissions and recommended practices for navigating that conversation with your students, as well as the role ACT aims to play in reaching educational equity.
