Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) educate roughly 1 in 10 Black college students, and have a better track record than most predominantly white institutions (PWIs) of helping individuals from the bottom 40% of the income ladder advance
to the top 60%. Joshua Etienne and Jonathan Lewis from uAspire will discuss some of the conflicting research about HBCUs and share a list of specific institutions that uAspire recommends as financially safer options. Come learn how
uAspire translates HBCU research to practice in an advising program that serves 10,000 students annually, as well as a few case studies of specific students who were deciding between enrolling at an HBCU versus a PWI.
Presenters:
- Joshua Etienne, Vice President of Advising, uAspire (and Morehouse College alumnus)
- Jonathan Lewis Senior Director of Research, uAspire
