The National College Attainment Network (NCAN) is the industry leader in helping public and private foundations, community-based organizations, colleges, districts, and communities to assess their college access and success programming and scholarship management to improve postsecondary outcomes. Our services include:

  • Assessment and recommendations for best practices in improving programming and outcomes in college access and scholarships with a focus on equity.
  • Exploration and planning for groups considering forming statewide, regional, and local college and career networks.
  • Visioning and planning for how a grant maker might support postsecondary attainment and design a postsecondary attainment initiative.
  • Design and planning for launching new scholarship programs and student support services.
  • Long range planning and strategic planning for foundations, college access, and scholarship organizations.
  • Research and assess best possible opportunities for program expansion in geographic locations, report on pros and cons for each region and make recommendations on strategies for how to approach and launch.
  • Advising on how to conduct community-wide assessments or landscape scans of postsecondary access and scholarship resources to determine gaps and needs, and strategies to address these needs.

The following examples illustrate some sample NCAN consulting engagements and projected budgets that include staff and travel costs. Consulting project budgets vary due to multiple factors, such as the individual nature of the program work, the number of site visits needed and the locations, the amount of staff time necessary, the amount of background research, and the timeframe needed to accomplish the work. Actual project budgets will vary.

  1. Facilitation of a meeting/retreat with committees and/or board members about improving scholarship program/college access program challenges and best practices. One day on-site; light background research off-site, brief follow-up memo with summary and suggested next steps. Estimate: $15,000-$20,000.
  2. Assessment and analysis of scholarship program, promise program, college access program, or school district for best practices and procedures in college and career readiness; final report of recommendations. One-to-three on-site visits for meetings and interviews; background research and review; assessment report. Estimate: $25,000-$75,000.
  3. Assessment, analysis, and recommendations for designing a new or redesigning an existing scholarship program, promise program, and/or college access program; or long-range planning and visioning including implementation in your community or at your foundation. Multiple on-site visits for meetings and interviews; background research and review; assessment report, and assistance to implement the program. Estimate: $50,000 and up.
