The 119th Congress, which will begin on January 3, 2025, may usher in significant change to higher education funding and policy.  The GOP will take the reins in the U.S. Senate and retain control of the House, though by a narrow margin, and Republican leaders will now drive the agenda.

So, what can NCAN members expect to see in the federal budget, appropriations, oversight, and authorization processes? Is Congress likely to act on President-elect Trump’s plan to eliminate the U.S. Department of Education? How will the Pell Grant and other federal financial aid programs likely be funded? Is short-term Pell or an overhaul of federal student lending likely to advance in this Congress? What can we expect to see on accreditation reform, financial aid transparency, or college DEI initiatives?

Join our expert panelists for a preview into what’s the come as they share their insights about Congressional priorities, procedures, and leadership.
