The National College Access Network applauds the Obama Administration’s continued support of low-income students. Earlier this month, the Department of Education announced new proposals that support the President's State of the Union point that "real opportunity requires every American to get the education and training they need to land a good-paying job." These two new programs, Pell for Accelerated Completion and On-Track Pell Bonus both encourage students to persist on the path to completing their degrees without harming any students using the current Pell Grant. President Obama also recently recommended increasing the maximum Pell Grant to $5935 and tie the Pell Grant program to inflation using mandatory funding beyond 2017 in his Fiscal Year 2017 budget proposal.
