Last week, around 100 NCAN members and 50 students gathered in Washington, D.C., for two days to advocate for key priorities with their federal policymakers.
Students, practitioners, and policy professionals participated in a day of advocacy training and interactive skill-building sessions to prepare them for meetings with their members of Congress and congressional staff. The following day, NCAN hosted a panel discussion featuring congressional staff who offered their experiences on Capitol Hill and with the legislative process. NCAN members and students then visited the congressional offices of their elected officials to share their stories and advocate for FAFSA simplification and elevating the Pell Grant’s purchasing power.
You can see more of members’ and students’ experiences via their posts on Twitter using the hashtag #NCANHillDay. And you can obtain the slide deck presentation and/or the resources distributed during the advocacy training via this Google Drive folder.
