In late April, the NCAN board of directors voted unanimously to appoint Amy Kerwin to its ranks. NCAN is pleased to welcome Ms. Kerwin to its board of directors.
Ms. Kerwin is the vice president of education philanthropy at Ascendium, a nonprofit organization based in Madison, Wisconsin, that serves as a student loan guarantor and an education philanthropy. Ms. Kerwin is responsible for leading the Education Grantmaking and Strategic Communications teams in the implementation of Ascendium’s philanthropic strategy.
A longtime NCAN supporter and member, Ascendium recently co-funded the FAFSA Completion Challenge that supported 25 cities to spread evidence-based strategies for FAFSA completion to more communities.
“We’re grateful to have Amy join NCAN’s board of directors. She brings a wealth of knowledge from the nonprofit and financial worlds that will support our mission to close equity gaps in postsecondary attainment,” said Kim Cook, NCAN’s executive director.
Prior to joining Ascendium in 1994, Ms. Kerwin was an auditor on the financial services team in EY’s Milwaukee office. Currently, she is a member of the Wisconsin Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy and serves on the boards of the Wisconsin Philanthropy Network and Grantmakers for Education.
Ms. Kerwin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. She is also a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor.
