Every year, Federal Student Aid offers a training conference mostly attended by financial aid administrators from around the country. However, the conference is not restricted to only those in the financial aid field. The National College Attainment Network
(NCAN) has reviewed the agenda for this year and there are sessions slated about the upcoming FAFSA changes that college access and success program personnel could benefit from. The conference will be virtual again this year and held from November
29 through December 2. There is no registration fee for the conference, so NCAN encourages our members to register all employees that might benefit from the information. The program agenda and registration can be found here.
NCAN recommends attending the following sessions:
Opening & Welcoming Remarks – Richard Cordray – November 29 from 9:00-9:30 AM ET
Federal Update – David Musser – November 29 from 9:40-10:40 AM ET
FAFSA Simplification – Melanie Storey – December 1 from 9:25-10:10 AM ET
The conference also offers “on-demand” sessions that become available on November 29 and can be accessed anytime during the conference. NCAN recommends the following on-demand sessions:
FAFSA Simplification: Use of Federal Tax Information – Dennis Kramer
2024-2025 FAFSA Form/Experience Changes – Manal Farooq and Kellis Robbins
Some of the presentations may contain very technical information targeted to financial aid administrators, but our hope is that the information provided will be helpful as you begin to plan for the coming changes. Training for the new process will be
critical in 2023. Families and students need to understand the changes, particularly those who complete the FAFSA now and will encounter a very different form next year.
As detailed information becomes available in 2023, NCAN plans to offer training and resources to assist you in serving your students.
