Congratulations to our March 2024 Member of the Month Jenae Anderson! National College Attainment Network (NCAN) staff asked her both professional and personal questions so you can get to know her and the work she does better.
Q: What brought you to the college access and success field initially? A: I joined this field upon graduation from my undergrad as a college advisor with the College Advising Corps. It was a very rewarding opportunity to serve a wonderful group of students in planning their post-secondary journey. Since then, I have been fortunate to accept a role with KU GEAR UP.
Q: What do you love most about your role or organization? A: The students! Doing this work takes a lot of effort and energy but it is all worth it when students show me a college acceptance letter, scholarship offer, job offer letter, etc. Seeing the students achieve these milestones is my why.
Q: What's your favorite thing about being an NCAN member? A: I serve on the [NCAN Advisory] Task Force and that experience has connected [me] to so many great individuals that I can ask for advice and guidance. But also, all the other resources such as webinars and conferences that push me to grow in my career.

Q: Imagine you could teleport anywhere. Where would you go right now and why? A: Bali! I watched a movie that was centered around Bali and I have been obsessed since. It just looks so pretty, tropical, and fun.
Q: What's your favorite food, and one food you don't like? A: I love Mexican food; I don't like seafood.
