Professional Questions
Q: What brought you to the college access and success field initially? A: I began my career as a K-12 teacher and coach. I also taught at the community college level. I learned college advising as an early college liaison and a community college advisor. I began learning the P-20 concept and felt a strong connection to sharing the college access processes with as many students and their families. It was an instant connection for me.
Q: What do you love most about your role or organization? A: I am a connector and convener. I also accelerate action in my region. I lift up the barriers of educational attainment and share with our organization to drive policy change. I believe all learners should have access and opportunity to educational attainment.
Q: What's your favorite thing about being an NCAN member? A: I love the network of people who have similar missions. I love to dialogue and connect to learn more and advance our collective mission.
Personality Questions
Every month, our MeMos will be answering some fun questions to help us get to know their “out of office” side!
Q: If you were dropped into any movie or TV show as a new main character, what movie or TV show would you pick and why? A: I would love to earn a spot on HGTV's House Hunters or Beachfront Bargains! I love the real estate industry and love to get property ideas. I just built a new home and really enjoyed getting all the ideas, especially from Chip and Joanna!
Q: What's one thing you'd like to cross off your bucket list? What's one thing you'd like to cross off your personal bucket list? Is there one thing you've crossed off already that you're really proud of? A: I would love to run a scholarship foundation. If I were given a large amount of money and work with investors to continue to grow the foundation, I would develop a scholars program for educational attainment. I would include all the wrap around ideas- career planning, networking, resume' building, leadership, service and more! I have crossed off the home building item but I enjoyed it so much, I would do it again!
Q: Imagine you could teleport anywhere. Where would you go right now and why? A: I would teleport to Italy, specifically the Amalfi Coast. I love the water, amazing views and great food. The homes are amazingly built into the side of a mountain that overlook the water.
