Understanding developmentally-appropriate approaches and interventions can help college access practitioners best support first-generation college students. This webinar will kick off a four-part series with Dr. Mandy Savitz-Romer. Dr. Savitz-Romer’s content expertise and knowledge of our field will help to expand our understanding of concepts like identity formation, self-belief, and goal setting and where these concepts can be incorporated into our practice and programming. In the first webinar of our series, Dr. Savitz-Romer will answer the question, “Why take a developmental approach?” and illuminate key developmental moments that all college access programs, K-12 constituents, and community partners should be aware of in their interactions with students. A thoughtful developmental approach meets students where they are at their stage of life and can help them to be better prepared for success as they make their postsecondary transition.
