Earlier this year, the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) increased the annual fee for some StudentTracker for High Schools (STHS) and StudentTracker for Outreach (STOR) subscriptions. STHS subscriptions increased from $425 per high school annually to $595 per high school annually. The STOR “Small Program” tier also increased in price from $425 to $595.
A statement from the NSC provided to NCAN reads in part:
“After 10+ years of holding our costs steady at the $425 rate we had to make the difficult decision to adjust the fee to $595. This change was made to support our rising costs of maintaining the service itself (software vendor fees, staffing resources,
etc.) and is the first increase since the creation of the service back in 2010.”
The NSC recently launched a free service for K-12 districts and high schools called DiplomaVerify. Subscribers who sign up for this service can save $100 for each paying high school, which would reduce the annual fee from $595 to $495. This flyer provides more information on that service.
District, school, and program budgets are obviously tight right now in light of COVID-19’s economic pressures. Even given that, the critical importance of measuring students’ postsecondary outcomes and the value of the StudentTracker platform means that
current subscribers should not balk at continuing their subscription if possible.
The current fee structure for the StudentTracker for Outreach service is available online.
Programs with questions about this fee change can reach out to Bill DeBaun, NCAN director of data and evaluation, at debaunb@ncan.org. From there I may connect you directly with the NSC as needed.
